Lucky Robot Japanese Kitchen

My best girl (and partner in exploring all things Austin), Chelsea Corinne, introduced me to Lucky Robot; after the crisp fried Brussels Sprouts appetizer on my first visit, I was hooked. Since the original trip, I’ve been back numerous times, and never been disappointed. The style of the restaurant is a little bit… cafeteria, but the reasonable prices, reliably good service, and delicious food more than make up for any lack of atmosphere.
Skip the California Rolls (ick! Who does that!?), and go straight for the Sake Sashimi–the salmon is fresh and delicious. Also worth trying at least once are the Japanese Devil’s Tail: “Shooters of habanero-infused sake, lychee, pineapple, lime and chipotle sour served in a hollowed out cucumber.“ Even better than they sound, but take it easy, cowboy, because they sneak up on you slowly!
Above, my photograph of the Twisted Tuna Nachos. The Texan ‘twist’ in this dish, roasted corn & avocado pico de gallo, is pure palate pleasing delight. On the menu as an entrée, I’d recommend these richly flavored treats as an appetizer for sharing with friends.
Price range: $ ($6-$12 for most entrées), Located at 1303 S Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78704

Oh my gosh! That looks amazing! I am all for nachos. I’m like Obama: if you put them in front of me, they will disappear!
hahahha! OMG, me too! These are spectacular…
Austin has some really good food; I feel it’s my responsibility to tell everyone about it
My kids and husband would love this! It may be worth the trip from Cedar Park…
Thanks for the review, I’d love to try the fried brussel sprouts; if only they were gluten free!
Andrea, it’s really worth the trip! Next time you get a hankering to visit South Congress… I hope you’ll report back and let me know what you think
Great food in a plain atmosphere is fine with me. (Like great perfume in a plain bottle!)
Absolutely! I completely agree, Anne Marie, especially in a city where good food is too often far overpriced…
