Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick #315, Precious

Cover Girl Lip Perfection #315 “Precious,” and Lip Perfection liner #210 “Seduce”

I’m a sucker for all things Drew Barrymore, so when I saw the new Cover Girl campaign for “Lip Perfection” lipsticks, I trotted down to the local Walgreens to get my paws on some. Since it’s on sale, buy one get one 50% off, I bought a lipstick and a liner.

The lipstick, #315 “Precious” was a color recommended to me by the handy automated Color Match system at the Cover Girl website. As you probably know, these cheapie brands don’t offer testers, and while they’re a steal at under ten-bucks, I have no desire to spend fifty-bucks looking for a shade that will work with my skin tone. The quizzette left me skeptical, and the color represented on the bottom of the actual tube didn’t leave me feeling anymore confident. However, skip ahead to swatch-time, and I’m pleasantly surprised. The color is excellent with my skin tone (even if it’s not the orange I’m so obsessed with at the moment), the silky texture and consistency of the color are of quality much higher than I expected. Usually for cheap thrills I rely on Revlon or L’Oreal, but to be honest, Cover Girl has really raised the bar with Lip Perfection, and I can easily see it becoming my “bon-bon” of choice.

    1. The formula really is very nice, and I went back and bought two more shades!

However, (and this is a big FAT however) BEWARE THE SPARKLE! There are a few shades that are very sparkly, and the color on the tube really is not indicative of the shade inside. This is unfortunate, because I think that people are going to be turned off by that aspect.

The display looks all muted, versatile color, while the shades are much brighter on lips.

On the other hand, I can now testify that this lipstick will survive lunch at a Mexican Restaurant (with soup, no less!) and remains moisturizing for the duration. 🙂
